Linda Baggett

The painting is a large concrete planter in the yard of a friend of a friend,  creeping jenny is the plant that appears to be her hair.  I adored the planter and was more than pleased when my painting turned out so pretty!

Virginia Howard

The painting depicts a visit with my travel friends to New York City during a snowstorm. The original photograph did not show the wind whipping the coat to one side, but that's what I like about the painting-the action.

Gail Howard

Sue and Marcia at the beach: I was a beginning painter when Virginia invited me to join the online Scurvy group. I felt out of place, but early on Sue saw something in my efforts that she liked. Over the years she encouraged me. Often there was nothing worthy of praise, but she once commented that my paintings were "always interesting." That was good enough for me!

Grace Haverty

Painting of my niece, which I love.

JoAnn Rossi

This is a painting of a great blue heron that I did on top of a wash that had no plans!

Nell Pugh

Portrait of my mother

Marcia Horan

Kay Sullivan

This is the painting that I enjoy most. It was from my father’s First Communion photo and makes me smile. Fealing did a portrait like this and I really like the technique.

Jan Prichard

I’ve been thinking of sending this one of Stu in for quite a while because I liked how it turned out, and because it was Stu’s suggestion that the ARTphARTs try portraiture and he was willing to sit for us. Not only that, but he said he would frame any finished portrait and he did just that. He is definitely an inspiring member of our group!

D'Ann Gunn

My friend Bill's daughter took the picture of her son, who played in the University of Alabama Million Dollar Band. She posted the snapshot on Facebook and when I saw it I knew I wanted to try to paint it. Later, when Bill saw it, he suggested that it needed to be their Christmas present.  Jonathan, the band player, said Mom opened it, said, “Oh oh,” got up, took an existing picture off the wall, and hung this. It still hangs there today.

Pat Brasher

I did this a long time ago. The yellow flowers just makes me happy.

Margene Bonds Trimble

Sepia shades of pastels, copied from a picture of my daddy, Emory Bonds, when he was 8 or 10 years old, with his mother Emma and his father Jim. He was youngest of a dozen children so he rated having a professional photograph, made about 1920 in Cullman, AL.
